报告人 Scott J. Dalgarno

School of Engineering and Physical Sciences-Chemistry, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Education

1997-2001  MChem 1st class (hons), University of Leeds. Undergraduate final year project with Dr. Terence P. Kee       2001-2004  PhD (Supramolecular Chemistry), University of Leeds with Prof. Colin L. Raston and Dr. Michaele J. Hardie

Professional Experience

2004-2007 Postdoctoral research associate, University of Missouri, working with Prof. Jerry L. Atwood. Primary research focus: Self- and metal-assisted assembly of pyrogallol[4]arene molecular capsules.

2007 – 2010 Lecturer - Inorganic Chemistry, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences - Chemistry, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.

2010 –  Reader - Inorganic Chemistry, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences - Chemistry, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. Research: Self- and metal-assisted assembly of p-carboxylatocalix[n]arenes, coordination chemistry, X-ray diffraction, poly-nuclear metal clusters, supramolecular chemistry.

Research Interest

His research encompasses the multi-disciplinary field of supramolecular chemistry and the use of calixarenes as molecular building blocks. At present his research focuses (a little more specifically) on the two sub-topics outlined below, although he is always looking for novel ways to combine molecule design with targeted assembly.
