Yi Lu received his B.S. from Beijing University, P. R. China in 1986 and his Ph.D. from University of California, Los Angeles in 1992. After two years of postdoctoral research at California Institute of Technology, he joined the faculty at Illinois in 1994. Professor Yi Lu's research interests are in bioinorganic chemistry.获奖和荣誉: * Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professors Award, 2002 * University Scholar Award (UIUC), 2002 * Award Runner-up for the Biosensors and Bioelectronics Award, 2002 * University of Illinois SCS Excellence in Teaching Award, 2000 * Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, 1999 * National Science Foundation Special Creativity Award * Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, 1998 * Cottrell Scholars Award (Research Corporation), 1997 * Beckman Young Investigator Award, 1996研究兴趣:The areas of current interest include bioinorganic, bioanalytical, and biomaterials chemistry. Bioorganic and biophysical methods and tools are also being used.We strive to combine the benefits of both chemical and biological approaches to a) shed new light onto the fundamental principles in chemistry and biology, such as long-range electron transfer, bioenergetics, mixed valency in coordination chemistry, distribution and speciation of metal ions and other chemicals in biological systems and environments, and “bottom-up” nanoscale science and engineering, and b) to apply this knowledge to develop novel catalysts or materials for practical applications, such as biocatalysis and biomass transformation for energy production, environmentally benign asymmetric catalysis for synthesis of chiral pharmaceutical drug intermediates, bioremediation of aromatic pollutants, environmental sensing/monitoring, cellular imaging, and nanoscale photonics and electronics.代表性论文:"Fast Colorimetric Sensing of Adenosine and Cocaine Based on a General Sensor Design Involving Aptamers and Nanoparticles," Juewen Liu and Yi Lu, Angew.
