This summer vacation, six students, who majors in chemistry in Zhejiang University, went to North Carolina State University to do scientific research. This program has successfully held for ten years. Both universities treasure this program for their students learning and living in a different culture.
During our the months in the USA, each student joined a group which they were interested in. They went to the lab every day and gained a lot -- not only the improvement of their communication skills in English, but also the theoretical knowledge and experimental skills in chemistry. On the last day in NCSU, every student had a 10-min presentation to show what they have done in the past two months. All of them have done very well in the lab and the presentation.
Besides learning in the lab, professor Stefan Franzen took the students to go camping on the Grandfather Mountain. They lived in the cabins, made fire to cook food and climbed the mountain. The students had lots of fun and enjoyed the splendid view on the top of the mountain.
In the last few days, Prof. Yinchun Liu, who is from the Department of Chemistry of ZJU went to North Carolina State University to talk with professors and enhanced the relationship between Zhejiang University and North Carolina State University. She also had a meeting with the 6 students and cared a lot about their life and research in North Carolina State University.
Students learned a lot and had lots of fun in the last two months.
