The InstituteOrganic and Medicinal Chemistry, founded in 2016, is a combination of the formerOrganic ChemistryInstituteand the former Chemical Biology and PharmacochemistryInstitute of Zhejiang University. The main disciplines are organic chemistry and chemical biology. Organic chemistry was selected as the provincial key discipline in 1984 and national key discipline in 2007.
The Institute has a strong faculty, with 30 faculty members including 19 professors, 7 associate professors (associate researchers）.
The main research fields include metal-organic chemistry oriented in organic synthesis, modern organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, organic spectroscopy, supramolecular chemistry, chemical biology and pharmaceutical chemistry. Develope new methods of organic synthesis and biosynthesis to provide a theoretical and methodological basis for research and development of new medicines, new materials and new agrochemicals.
In recent years, it has successively presided over the State 973 Projects, the State 863 Projects, the National Natural Science Foundationand other scientific research projects. Publishedhundreds of SCI papers, and an average of tens of authorized invention patentsannually, the institute is now oriented to the major national needs, with equal emphasis on basic and applied research, and has a good international reputation in related fields.
