 Ruikang Tang (唐睿康)

Principal Investigator, Department of Chemistry, Zhejiang University

He studied chemistry at Nanjing University and completed B.Sc. and Ph.D in 1995 and 1998, respectively. Then he went to the State University of New York at Buffalo as post-doctoral research follow. In 2005, he joined Zhejiang University as a full professor.

Prof. Tang’s research focuses on biomineralization and its biomedical development and his study interests include crystallization mechanism, biomimetic materials, and material-based organism functionalization, etc. One of his representative achievements is the improvement of vaccines by using biomineralization approaches, which can prepare thermostable vaccines that do not need refrigeration and improved vaccines that overcome preexisting immunity. He received National Award for Youth in Science and Technology of China in 2011.
